Photo disturbing da Silva UFC 117 conquer Sonnen

Anderson Silva should be counting his lucky stars this Monday morning that he still has his UFC title belt. The sample scored whupped up for 22 minutes but was still able to pull off a presentation with just over two minutes left in its fight against Sonnen Hague.

Apparently his work with movie star Steven Seagal action does not pay a dividend. Silva was seriously its ties with the star of great flicks like "Above the Law" and "Under Siege." Seagal escorted Silva to the Octagon and also had a great "Smooch".In this video, Seagal seemed to be added to offensive arsenal of Silva, showing him some moves from Seagal Aikido. remember, was the guy who said Sonnen wouldn't be much of a test for Silva.

"Certainly this fight is another step on the road," Seagal said. "But I think this will not be one of his struggles harder".

To avoid getting sacked 27 times, Silva can add Fran Tarkenton his smantellera. The sample was taken in all five shifts. which included dumped on her front in less than a minute in the last four rounds.By Compustrike, he was also impressed 289 times. That is a number of outrageous considering only the champ was hit a total of 208 times in its first UFC 11 attacks.

Sonnen used the word "devastated" on numerous occasions during the press conference postfight. Lose on the big stage too often was the case for the former wrestler Oregon.

He can take some satisfaction in grabbing the fight of the night bonus $ 60,000.That is more than what might say bettors in Las Vegas.Presentation of Ave Maria Silva came as punters were counting their money. Unfortunately when "take a knee" in guard someone isn't quite the same as football.Bets on Silva pushed its unilateral quotas to less-500 in some cases. as you can see, a ticket to parlay with underdogs Sonnen and Matt Hughes, would you have paid in excess of 11-1. Hughes has been a solid success at more dog-145. Dennis Hallman was the best night out-280.

Stefan Struve screwed underdog bettors well. giant was getting destroyed by Christian Morecraft (plus-240) when it has landed a right-handed fight-changing to turn things in his favor.

Silva shows courage sample in pulling off the miracle comeback

The interview was so non-stop and over the top, couldn't be executed some starting from believing that even Yoshiyuki Sonnen have known its guarantees. Spoke to bring the fight Anderson Silva, taking him Silva for 25 minutes and flying a hole in his head. Ridiculous, right? Wrong, Sonnen did exactly what he said would do, but did so only 22. Leader Sonnen 4-0, relaxed for a few seconds in the guard of Silva and caught by a great right. Sonnen that stopped long enough to allow Silva to throw up his legs and lock on a triangle choke. Sonnen couldn't hold off, has exploited and Silva kept his average UFC title with a comeback miracle at 3: 10 the fifth round in the main event at UFC 117 in Oakland.

Sonnen is always brutally honest and had no excuses just seconds after the fight.

"It was a tough fight. He is a tough guy, "Sonnen said UFC analyst Joe Rogan."I came in second.I have given my opportunity and I came up short ".

Update:Anderson Silva scored a presentation of the award Night ($ 60,000). He and Sonnen had the meeting bonus night as well. ($ 60,000 each)

Update II: Compustrike Credits that Sonnen landed a MMA record 289 strikes during the fight. Which included 218-11 (a) during the first three ballots and 51-2 in first.FightMetric says that the count was 320-64 in General in favour of Sonnen.

He can still be proud. He was leader of the struggle, 40-34, 40-36 and 40-35, about the scorecard. Coming in, Silva had won all 11 of his fights UFC, losing scarcely a few revolutions. was so dominant that opponents were afraid to engage with him for some ugly, boring fighting.

Sonnen wasn't intimidated everyone. blew threw Silva (27-4, 12-0 UFC) in a few seconds the opening of each round to score Takedown. On the ground, Silva was impotent. He couldn't improve its position and couldn't get off our backs.

But Sonnen (24-11-1, 4-4 UFC) does not close it.That's why Championship fights are five laps. When asked if he wanted a rematch immediately, Sonnen was still stunned.

"I am only here to be the number 1.If I'm not the best that I'm going to go in life, "said Sonnen."But for now I got the silver medal".

Silva seemed almost shocked beginning. arriving ever right to striker lethal. This is exactly what he did Sonnen and had the first big hit of the fight. Sonnen landed left huge that stunned Silva. the sample is withdrawn, abandoned his hands and was taking more shots on the feet. that when Sonnen scored his first takedown with 3: 10 left in the second round. In, which struck the bridge just 11 seconds in the next round Silva was on baking sheet 24 seconds. Fourth, Silva scored a takedown but seemed then an amateur as easily reversed him Sonnen. on the ground, Sonnen pounded away with an array of elbows and punches to the head and body. both fighters were bruised evil at end of combat.

UFC 117 of three stars: Silva, Sonnen and Struve

The first event of pay-per-view UFC in more than one month had no lack of impressive performances.

N ° 1 star--Anderson Silva: If no reminder was necessary because MMA is an amazing sport, Silva gave you. A football team is unlikely to come back and win when down four touchdowns in the notice of two minutes.Ditto a basketball team down 40 points, or a baseball team 12 runs downwards. But in MMA, judges score cards can be made questionable with a single triangle choke.

Silva has demonstrated not only the magnitude of MMA, but the nature of a sample.Has withstood a Sonnen Yoshiyuki beating for 4 1/2 laps, but was still able to come back and win., quite simply, has discovered a way to win. That is a quality found in larger samples, independently of sport.

No. 2 star--Sonnen Hague: of course, the man who delivered the beating for most of the main event deserves glory as well. Sonnen used wrestling and the Earth and the pound to inexorably pummel Silva. Sonnen fact Silva human aspect, a feat that few other combatants were able to accomplish.

No. 3 star--Stefan Struve: on a map jam-packed, was difficult to choose the final Star, but Struve showed his mettle with a second round KO of Christians Morecraft.Struve was battered and beaten by the first round. With a lip altered and a bloody face, Struve is back to deliver two strikes punish subscribe Morecraft.

Honorable--Wrestling: Yes, the world's oldest and largest sport has played a leading role to 117 UFC.Matt Hughes used a technique old school wrestling to beat Ricardo Almeida. Jon Fitch used wrestling to take back Thiago Alves. Phil Davis, Clay Guide and even Sonnen wrestling used to get the job done--almost done in the case of Sonnen.

Dishonorable Mention--Thiago Alves: first, he blew the weight. then he was dominated by Jon Fitch a unanimous decision loss. Alves looked slow and tired, managing only a few suits of offense near the end of the second and third round.

Who are the stars from 117 UFC?

You would like to see immediately Silva-Sonnen II? Silva Manager has iffy

For some reason in mixed martial arts, immediate rematches are usually frowned. The youngest demographic such new blood in the cage, especially when it comes to the struggles of the title. So when will we see Chael Sonnen get another shot at Anderson Silva? Sonnen was leading 4-0 (40-35, 40-34, 36-40) and his way to win the fifth when he got caught in a triangle choke.

The hype prefight was among the best in UFC history and struggle was dynamite. Willingness of Sonnen get in line with what seemed guarantees scandalous, will probably pay dividends in the form of buy pay-per-view which could be in excess of 750,000.

The second fight will be even larger. Thus the FOC can afford to slip in another competitor before meeting Sonnen e Silva? And isn't incredibly risky to make Sonnen fight someone else in the meantime?

MMA expert Kevin Iole of Yahoo thinks there is only one choice for the UFC and we could be waiting a while before we see the rematch.

Update:Silva Soares And Manager sounds like he is already lining against giving Sonnen an immediate hit.Soares said FightHype:

"I mean, I don't think necessarily a rematch immediately is legitimate. it's not like he won decisively .you've forwarded man. you were on top of him for twenty minutes of the fight and he couldn't finish. Anderson scored a few bumps and scratches, but let's be realistic, you're on a guy of 23 minutes and could not take him? why should he get a rematch?"

As expected, the first reaction to this post has been all over the map on Twitter @ stevecofield.

Torres says Shields is afraid of Silva and may struggle to 170

Jake Shields finally jumped on board with the UFC last week and was the recipient of some criticism from several directions. Some called his fighting style tedious. Others wonder why the average sample from Strikeforce is fighting for his new boss at welterweight. Miguel Torres, a former champion down to 135, suggested that Shields was afraid to fight Anderson Silva.

"I think he is always out of 185, because he is a bit afraid of Anderson (Silva)," Torres said during last week's stint as guest host on "MMA Live on Espn2" (start 26 left sign). "Anderson of a tough guy struggling in this weight class and he is thinking St. Pierre a fight easier ".

ESPN was nice enough to include me in the discussion. I disagree with Torres. Of greatest strength shields is his grappling.Takedown defense might be the only weakness of Silva. Then theoretically St. Pierre, with its excellent wrestling MMA, is actually a challenge more difficult for Shields. Shields MMAWeekly radio that was explained simply a case of watching the fastest route for a title shot (video below).

"Obviously if I'm close to obtain a title shot is a huge factor," commented Shields on his choice of weight class. "I'm not really sure if this is going to be fighting a competitor number one or not, it doesn't have hinted to me, but there's a good chance if I go out there and look really well done, it is certainly a possibility."

He might be right. If GSP beats Koscheck, UFC may be looking for a fresh face to intensify. That could be the winner of shields and his opponent at UFC 121 in October, Martin Kampmann.

Torres didn't even like the choice because he believes Shields is now a natural Middleweight.

"I think it might be too much of a cut of weight," Torres said on MMA Live. sometimes trying to cut, which is a little too much for you and I think Shields is about to discover the right off the bat. He's a great fighter but that weight class, cut that weight is going to be rough, "said Torres.

By the numbers, Shields is far from being a natural Middleweight. Admittedly, he looked physically quite large when he faced guys like Robbie Lawler and Dan Henderson, but said MMA Weekly that he is now at 195. most of UFC middleweights are much larger than walking around 205-220 pounds.

UFC 117 main event breakdown: Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen

Recently I was talking with an insider of sport about things the nothing with Saturday night UFC 117 Middleweight championship fight, if the topic to Chael enabled Sun for obvious reasons. Finally he is most interesting man in the world, at least until early Sunday morning.

The Insider who has spent time with Suns recently started talking about Sun's mental makeup and some outrageous things that he is in the leadup to his battle with Anderson Silva said. The General wisdom holds that Sun said these things to interest in the fight to drums, or to get in Silva's head, but completely he one other reason schlug.Sonnen, he insisted, a need the stakes so deeply in the fight to invest that he had no other choice but to force to increase in the performance of his life.

Sun is encountered that he started recently graduated sports psychology and had come to the realization that sit in unpleasant situations and overcome success seemed in anticipation to lead. It is a bold, all-in strategy, who upped the entertainment level of support, but it does in a loaded fight?

It goes without saying that a Silva solar style clash which is highest order.Silva (26-4) is a powerful striker, made of long limbs and tip angle is seemingly a bullish nightmares for opponents to verursachen.Sonnen (24-10 1) tenacious wrestler close space and suffocating depending on his enemy ground strikes.
The proof is obviously the numbers where after Compustrike, Silva has only six takedowns in 11 UFC fights, and spent about 78 percent of his battles in the standup position. Now Sun has tried 29 takedowns in his seven UFC bouts, and spent about 63 percent of his time on the mat.

While the style contrast is striking, which is striking a Kontrast.Silva one of the best strikers in recent history MMA connect to 71 percent of his beats according to UFC Zahlen.Er is also very hard to beat. Connect your according to Compustrike from standing opponent to only 32 percent trying.

Suns, is however unlikely to engage in a standup war for longer periods. More likely is it that a plan similar to the following in his upset of Nate Marquardt at UFC 109, where he less than two minutes of the 15 minutes bout on his feet select spent instead on his back repeatedly adopted Marquardt, put where he landed 149 ground strikes over three rounds.

The question is: it can Silva placed there, and if so, he can avoid, delivered?

Because he landed, fights, 72 percent is its takedown tries on his last seven UFC it seems likely that Sun at some point get the fight on the ground. However, there will be no easy task.Silva avoids approximately 83 percent of takedown attempts against him and has only twice in his last six seizures been taken down.

Part this is because many fighters hesitant to commit against him to move days.to regarding contact in danger hit.As we have seen repeatedly with Silva, he appears brightest against people who come directly to him.Forrest Griffin and James Irvin were both aggression mode, if you ko's erlitten.Gerne, that Silva counterstrike and he has no objection to his opponents come to him confidence that your goals, its precise hands, elbows, knees and Shin find.

As a result, Sun is, its lumps to take as he moved in takedown. of course this is nothing new for him.Marquardt got his shots, to.Silva, though, is harder and more accurate.Sun goes to take what he dishes out and soldier on either fill Silva against the fence (where he did, with his Muay Thai) or put it on the ground (where Silva is not rags Jiu-Jitsu).

The truth of the matter is that Sun might be a perfect fight to win, to fight.Based on their finishing stats alone, can easily see you that Sun's last five wins by decision were, but have all three Rounders and nobody in Silva's League. Then again, is there someone in his League?

Despite some Silva's questions recent efforts, drawing criticism from fans, media and even the UFC President, nobody, he knock out or submitting of anyone in the world called the middleweight division home suitable ist.Sonnen has 10 times in his career, including seven times the template verloren.Es are holes in his game to be sure.

Thats not to say, he did not win kann. He's press going to Silva, as he in awhile urged been still nicht.Nach all his proclamations is it clear that he is not going to Silva dance clown will win him lassen.Er in his face, or he scored verlieren.Bereits peace with the fact which might lead it to a unilateral loss just like an impressive victory, so his mind with faith should be clear wear that a constant pressure Silva's approach is down capabilities to limit and/or him in the course of time.

Suns forces to fight Silva, and the master will happily enjoys verpflichten.Er when the fight is brought ist.Es almost than whether the master requires that the challenger in a sign of respect come to him and it is a formula that has resulted in some of his best performances.

With more performance, striking elite and better submissions Silva not has more options than Suns to gewinnen.Erwarten, a fast blowout with his tenacity and grit, Sun should an almost perfect performance to win and that's a lot of someone regarding who has lost 10 times in his career.

Silva via second round template.
