Down to earth Howard ready for next step

John Howard was similar yeoman during its early days in UFC. Sure the guy can talk trash with the best of them, but it is his nature-ground that he can take in deep water in the welterweight division.

Howard slowly worked his way up the ladder with victories on Dennis Hallman, Daniel Roberts Tamdan McCrory, and Chris Wilson. All solid fighters but none spectacular. He was to fix an opportunity for a signature to victory against the highly touted Anthony Johnson, but that the fight was cancelled because of injury Johnson. But you didn't hear Howard whine and he's not complaining that his next opponent is a relative name.In fact, he is giving Jake Ellenberger a unusual level of respect. from heavy:

"I expected him to come out hardcore and I'm ready for this," said Howard. "I know he has his hands heavy but I too heavy hands. If he wants to found with a boxer then all power to him. of course I am nervous, but I'm actually excited too. We have the main tab, on TV, and we're going to have some fun. "

You expect this kind of straight talk from a guy who grew up in a gritty slice of New England. The guy has made money pretty nice so far with the promotion, having earned two bonus on the night of the fight. Yet he is still hasn't replaced his Honda Accord 1994.

"You messed up up. The blocks are messed up, tires. Is my favorite car.I love it, "said Howard."This is what makes me happy. This is the kind of guy that I am.I don't need a few things to make an impression. I tell people be happy with what you got. I am too ".

Howard (UFC 14-4, 4-0) and Allan ellenberger (22-5, 1-1 UFC) square Sunday during UFC on versus 2. Ellenberger has less experience UFC Howard but its competition may have been stronger, Division of struggles against Mike Pyle and Carlos Condit.
