John Howard was similar yeoman during its early days in UFC. Sure the guy can talk trash with the best of them, but it is his nature-ground that he can take in deep water in the welterweight division.
Howard slowly worked his way up the ladder with victories on Dennis Hallman, Daniel Roberts Tamdan McCrory, and Chris Wilson. All solid fighters but none spectacular.
