Tate takes tournament of women Strikeforce first

Had certainly marketability and WINS to earn a rematch against the champ Sarah Kaufmann but Miesha Tate wasn't just delivered a blow to women Strikeforce title 135-pound. Strikeforce has chosen a different path for a Northern California-based fighter. Have made her the focal point of a tournament one night, four-women. It was all or nothing, and she came great. Tate scored two victories, including a grapplefest fought against Hitomi Akano very dangerous to earn his shot at Kaufman Strikeforce Challenger 10/Phoenix.

Marloes Coenen get the first shot against Kaufman sometime this fall.

"My defense of presentation is one of my strengths.(Akano) was what I wanted to fight the majority in the tournament, "said the Tate proud. Sarah you're amazing.I can't wait to fight is once again. "

Kaufman can defend his title with victory against Coenen, will be the second possibility of Tate at Canadian. Tate 23-year-old lost a decision of Kaufman last October.

"Is a dream come true. I came here to a mission and accomplished my goal, "Tate said.

She could have very easily missed his shot. the tournament prompted Tate (11-2) to combat two times in one night.Which is a format that has a long history in Japan, but most of the boards of THE U.S. are reluctant to allow freedom fighters fight against two times in one night. Arizona was a game, but a change was made. rounds have been shortened from five minutes to three minutes and the first round of the tournament, the fights were just two laps. Has been done to minimize the damage, but is also made risky in the opening round for bookmarks, Tate and Akano.

Tate met Maiju Kujala inexperienced.A native of Finland, Kujala (4-2) was hard to take down and landed at times the best shots on the feet. Tate fled with a victory of decision and didn't take much damage.

Akano (4-8) had to work much harder in his match against Pretty Damm. fighting hit the deck early and often, and Damm was the fighter physically stronger. The "Monster Fight Girl" got the Takedown but had trouble controlling the largest Brazilian. But Akano technique was brilliant as has often used force against you the Damm. in the middle of the second round, Damm had the upper control but reversed by Akano, which stuck on a modification to the triangle and scored the victory by armbar the 1: 48 mark.

"I just used force of carina in my technique inversion," said Akano, through his interpreter Shu Hirata. "I went with the flow and she entered the armbar. When I fight Miesha, I'd like to introduce you. "

Akano, 36, was very dangerous final, but was a bit too small for Tate. Tate scored Takedown in all three shifts and quickly took control of his back. worked for chokes for the second and third round but defence lodged Akano was very solid.

Young Couture Gets first victory; Riggs back on track

It's hard to believe that there is a fighter that is more polite and docile away from the cage of Randy Couture. We found one. Is his son Ryan. But much like her father famous of combat, the next generation Couture turns on the bad guys when he steps into the cage. The 27-year-old, making his pro debut on Showtime, made quick work of Lucas Stark forcing a faucet by triangle choke under 90 seconds in struggle.

Couture is a child rather than Earth, but you could see that he was wound up before the fight. There was a ton of pressure on him. After all, he was made his pro debut on a TV card on Showtime. Even admitted in the lead up to the fight that he was always the only opportunity because of its name. Once scored the victory, took a couple of deep breaths before the hand was raised. He jumped around like a maniac or talk trash. Was even a little embarrassed, as asked fans to come to his afterparty.

"All come have a drink with me at the ranch of Martini, please," he said sheepishly la Couture.

He may have been nervous before and after the fight, but showed the composure of a veteran during short fight. Strikes by Tony was a little embarrassing, but he nailed Couture with a few good shots. He landed also bring a pleasant Fireman's outfit to dump Couture on his back.Couture reacted quickly by throwing his right leg on the shoulder of Tony Stark. for a few seconds, Couture threw other leg and the Starter was stuck on. The 20-year-old Tapped quickly the 1: 15 mark. There was no way to exit.

Ryan was certainly more success that the latest fad Strikeforce tried to throw in the cage. Randy ex-wife Kim had a rough time in his two fights you jumped on the ShowTime. big stage a little too quickly. The patient more Ryan fought on the amateur stage in Las Vegas for the last few years and scored six matches under his belt, before he decided to go pro. He is also a gym of his father, Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas, just about all the days of training with guys like Tyson Griffin, Gray Maynard and Martin Kampmann.

Patient Riggs blasts out Taylor

Joe Riggs isn't aggressive enough that the killer was during his days UFC, but he still possesses some dangerous elements. The tailor of Louis relatively inexperienced that knew but still couldn't resist the urge to trade with Riggs. That was a bad move. Taylor captured a huge left midway through the third round, struck the bridge and found herself always devastated in front.Taylor trapped helplessly in a crucifix, exploited because of strikes giving Riggs his career 33rd win in a fight catchweight to 182 pounds.

Riggs used to be a guy who has swung for fences. He was good enough, even at the tender age of 9-to-24, to take four victories in UFC welterweight title and get a shot at Matt Hughes.27 now Riggs has become more of a counterstriker.

This approach resulted against Jay Hieron in his last fight but against a guy with fighting only seven, the mentality has proved to be the right way forward.

Taylor, a wrestler from the market, could only score two Takedown and cancelled Riggs (54-11) on the bottom. in the third round, Taylor (6-2) tried to open things, but as color analyst Pat Miletich Showtime pointed out, he was leading with his head. Riggs nailed Taylor with a reverse left. Chicago-native immediately grabbed his face and back seconds later was getting pounded by Riggs.

This was the first fight of Riggs above 170 pounds since September 2008. Looked yet lean like a near Middleweight. after the fight, Riggs lobbied for a rematch against welterweight champ Nick Diaz Strikeforce. If that doesn't happen, he wants in the tournament average Strikeforce proposed.

Yhst-50863389838911_2094_21631803_tinyby JonathanSnowden on 16 August 2010, 12: 54 PM EDT in MMA history

While Zuffa is strongly hyping battle between James Toney and Randy Couture for the UFC 118 first clash of high profile between Boxer and martial artist in the history of MMA, actually have a handful of seminal competitions between sweet science and cage fighting best. The first and most influential, where did all the way back in 1976 and starred the best contender of all time, Muhammad Ali and the most famous wrestler pro Japan, Antonio Inoki. Fighter's Only divides it:

In 1976, "The Greatest" was in his second reign as world heavyweight champion. In the past two years had defeated similar George Foreman and Joe Frazier. On 26 June he engaged in battle with Japanese professional wrestler known as Antonio Inoki Arena in Budokan, Tokyo. All the wrong reasons their meeting would become almost as famous as "Rumble in the Jungle" and ' Thriller in Manila '.

The fight was actually should be professional wrestling match. While many in the media boxing contested decision Ali's to take in the match, professional wrestling are feeling its reputation was sully reason six million for him to do so. Before this fight Ali's boxing day was the biggest pay just 5 million. False pro wrestling match against Inoki could result in more than-without risk and sheet in head repeatedly. The plan was simple. Ali would dominate Inoki and make it bleed with punches.Data for a downed opponent, Ali ask judge to stop fighting while his back was turned, Inoki would strike copies it to the head of his Kick famous enzuigiri. Ali could look strong and be a hero, despite the loss. Inoki clause would be outside niche as foreign villian on planned tour of America's wrestling hotbeds.

Seemed to Ali like much fun. Went towards promoting bout and had a large quantity at the expense of yukks and its unusual appearance Inoki, especially his Chin mark Jay Leno-esque. Then something changed. Ali had thoughts seconds, started thinking his legacy and his reputation. Things went from simple overnight just strange, as explained Dave Meltzer:

The match was loading, with Ali loss.In the last minute Ali got cold feet and match almost fell apart. To save events, Inoki agreed for real, fight against a set of rules, which was close to walk in straitjacket. Inoki couldn't punching, because he was not wearing gloves. They could not kick while standing. He could not use casts or use of any statement. So he spent 15 rounds of laying on his back throwing kicks Ali's legs Match, officially called. draw was Farce, but in Japan it is one of the most famous games pro wrestling ever, as well as birth mixed martial arts.

At the time the show was a disaster.Bombed at the box and reputation Inoki was in shambles in its country of origin in Japan. Finally he would rebuild his image by adding other combat sports athletes justified to its list of victims of fighting and go down in history as one of the fathers of MMA.But that would be in time.

Ali never collected his six million Had to settle for. 2.1 million and was lucky to get even that, due to financial losses. worse physically was never the same. Inoki's 65 kicks leg had their passage. Ali was hosipitilzed after fight and never was again the same Boxer His legs were absent.-his mental faculties would follow quickly.

See great highlight fiasco Inoki-Ali. Jonathan s. Snowden, community organizer is the author of total MMA: Inside Ultimate Fighting and the coming Hari MMA.
