After his experience on season 5 of "The Ultimate Fighter," Gabe Ruediger ever got to fight in UFC again. Perhaps now would he had waited a bit longer time. Joe Lauzon, returning from a knee injury, slammed, fists, elbowed and finally armbarred Ruediger. Was just over two minutes of absolute domination as won Lauzon via submission in the first round.

"Welcome to Boston," shouted Lauzon, who comes from Near East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, "I'm glad I got to fight here in Boston. I wanted to take his arm, and this is exactly what I did."

Not there was absolutely no ring rust from Lauzon, who was returning from a knee injury in January. Lauzon (UFC 7-5, 6-2) set the tone early with a great Ruediger right and pushed against the cage. Here's where I got a hold of Ruediger and slammed him to the mat.Ruediger encrypted well but was still getting hit by big shots. scored on his knees and took some shots massive facial as Lauzon punched under the arms. Ruediger actually gotten at his feet, but was almost suplexed as part of another slam to the mat.

Lauzon don't leave it this time. That's when he downloaded with some elbows enormous face of Ruediger. He bailed then renounce his back where Lauzon converted for finishing armbar.

Update: Lauzon won $ 60,000 for the submission of the night.

Reputation of Ruediger took a beating from his appearance on 5 TUF.He was pictured dine and relax before his first fight and then couldn't make the weight. He was quite the Queen of the drama and close before making it always at La Scala.UFC Dana White he launched by casa TUF and he refused to show. The UFC elected not to give an official Ruediger fight after the season was over.

He then hit the minor league circuit, and Lauzon, also a cast member that season, went on to become one of the hottest prospects in 155-pound division of UFC. Lauzon went 5-2, winning four bonus reward postfight. Ruediger (17-6, 0-2 UFC) was a fill-in tonight for the Etim Terry injured. we'll see if he gets another shot. This was a pathetic and showed once again a minor lack of class when he refused to shake the hand of Lauzon following the fight.

Shark fights 13: Jardine wants your visit to minors to be fast

Keith Jardine was a gambler and sell a solid contributor of UFC increases over the past five years, but when you have lost four straight and 5-of-6 became rather hard. Jardine supported UFC in the corner and promotion said the former cast member from season 2 of "The Ultimate Fighter" that it was time to hit small circuit of MMA.

Jardine (UFC 15-8, 6-7) was flattered by all offers from smaller promotions. He actually took one of the first fighting that came his way.Shark fights out of Texas offered a fellow UFC veteran in Trevor Prangley. they meet this weekend in Amarillo, Tx. Shark Fights 13.

Jardine wasn't about waiting for UFC change his mind or take time off.

"First of all, all offers that came for the fights were simply amazing and I did feel pretty good. And I just wanted to get a fight as fast as possible and then Shark Fights called immediately-I mean, like, next week-and I accepted the fight, "Jardine said Luke Thomas on WJFK."And then I was in training mode, since then, so I think that after over of this fight, I'm gonna take a couple of weeks ".

Win or lose, Jardine is a free agent after the fight and he will look for the best match possible. "The Dean of Mean "WJFK said that he believes that the UFC would want him to win two clashes first call him back up.

"My goal is always to return to UFC and return in the image title. And we have not made no bones about it, "said Jardine. "We told 'em that that is what this fight is for me the opportunity to return to the ring and get out of the crisis that I have been getting right back to the image in UFC title."

Jardine, 34, is optimistic and he should be.He was well-regarded by UFC President Dana White and matchmaker Joe Silva. And frankly in the past two years could have been very different, with a pause or two along the way.Jardine has lost a close decision Quinton Jackson at UFC 96 and thinks his mentality of how attack down the stretch cost him the fight. He also scored jobbed a bit in his last loss against Matt Hamill, when he missed a point about what was really an eye unintentional poke.

Jardine has revealed a surprising nugget that he never received bids or calls from two world's largest promotions, Strikeforce and DREAM.

Prangley, that is really a tweener between 185 and 205 pounds, will not be easy for Jardine. He is a fighter very good and this will make the third straight takedown artist who had to reject Jardine. If he can keep on your feet, Jardine should be able to get to Prangley (UFC 22-6, 2-2). the 38-year-old defensive has slowed down over the years. it would be nice if Jardine could score a quick, emphatic finish as well. Avoiding are fine when you're in the UFC, but probably not the best way to get re-signed by the promotion.

Unlike Toney, acts as a true fighter Hunt

Spine of Mark Hunt is against the wall. A veteran of kickboxing, he is a huge MMA fan favorite clubs Japanese. But because he hasn't worked on his ground game, his style has led to a one-dimensional running rough lately in MMA. Hunt has lost five straight and not won since 2006, but he has made his UFC debut at UFC 119 in September. Why? Dana White said the inclusion of hunting was part of the purchase PRIDE Back in 2007. Good news for white are that hunting is not only going to take the money and run.

He said Sherdog back in July that he felt like he had lost much of his career and had not taken seriously his conditioning. From the appearance of the picture on the left hunting (amid) worked his butt.He is regularly about 290 pounds. Hunt is also down to American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Fl., one of the best gyms grappling/Jiu-Jitsu at home.

No one is saying that James Toney could have beaten Randy Couture if first UFC 118 had worked a little harder. But he could've at least given himself a blow to stay out of the bridge more than 11 seconds, he wasn't come pounds of 237 a career high.Hunt, clearly, has no interest in a production of a similar performance Toney.

Former UFC Fighter Jeff Monson is also pictured (left). He looks a bit leaner. Monson spoke with Strikeforce fighting for promotion in October down to 205 pounds.

How do we fix MMA's acting problems? Training and accountability

There is no get to it, MMA has some problems if it to amtiert. I speak not only of suspicious decisions. I'm talking about befremdliches interpretations of the rules in the cage, including but not limited to bizarre Stand-Ups as, which may or may not have cost former WWE star Bobby Lashley a victory against Chad of Griggs at StrikeForce: Houston last weekend.

In the case of referee, Jon missed it somehow Spritzer (a bit of a history of flubbing calls has), which decided, Lashley get up out of the full mount in the second Runde.Auf first, that it seemed as if he was going to review the section under Lashley's eye, but MMA fighting confirmed that Spritzer actually the fighters to the feet because he felt brought from the top position Lashley was not active enough.

I will stop a moment, that in can take. One of the dominant positions may have had reached, but he lost it, when the referee weren't decided that his occasional bursts of offense enough to keep him to the position he had earned to allow Lashley full mount.

Should happen ever in an MMA fight? Absolutely not, according to the sports erfahrensten referee, "Big" John McCarthy.

""Positions you are those guys out which can stand up because it is neutral or close to neutral,"McCarthy said, adding that guard or half guard are the most common examples."Once you say page has control guy won a dominant position where he really can not be injured, but he can damage his opponent. "If he can damage his opponents from that position, and his opponent can him who is the referee to the devil take it not damage?"

McCarthy itself was once this downfall guilty and only once. At UFC 17 1998 he took the full mount from Jeremy Horn, who currently enjoy was dominant against Frank Shamrock but nothing to do much with it.

"He stayed for over a minute and a half mounted and did nothing."Nothing, "said McCarthy." It was based out and I told him, 'Jeremy gotta you work, do gotta something', and he was based.I told him, "I stand up if not something to do" and he did not."I landed him get up and I felt like hell."

Horn would to go, submission and then McCarthy losing the UFC light heavyweight title fight over Kneebar headed to talk back to the locker room with him.Heard not Horn had employed his warnings, remain McCarthy asked? Horn replied that he heard you loud and clear.

' So I said: "then what were you thinking? '"McCarthy, remembers now." "And he said:"I thought I mounted on Frank Shamrock and I will do anything for me him.""

Laugh now, but back then it was serious. To make the same decision prayer when he is today, McCarthy would, admitted that he not sure he would. The persistent doubts highlights of one of the problems with the status of current MMA: when it comes to things like Stand-Ups, there is a lot which is left to interpret each single arbitrator for yourself.

Take for example the question of dominance.Once a fighter contact the trouble of securing control or mount, in a safe place and his opponent in a very precarious as much work enough to him to stay to justify? There is an average number of beats per minute needing to maintain? does he constantly to set up a kind of a submission, and if so, what is the set-up that is bound from his opponents tip subtle to be, is too subtle for the referee to notice?

Are difficult questions to begin with, and are covered in each referee MMA Guide. When I found out when I spoke with NSAC executive director Keith Kizer, it is not just a formal process for the selection of arbitrators and/or judge and ensure that all a certain base level of knowledge.

It is primarily a matter of turning in a resume showing some experience, have a good track record with some Commission somewhere on the planet and not because of any back child support.Commissions go not only, make sure each referee know what is caught in Mount or know what positions can move a certain template through the trouble and cannot be finished aus.Oft if we find out how much you do not know, is it too late.

How McCarthy put it, "Some people don't understand what the warriors."If a guy in the page control, see that with his shoulder pressure on someone, to move it and open, if you've never been there, how do you know how it is?You do not."It looks like a man laying on another."

This brings us to another problem. You say a referee crazy up.Say it is a major screw up the potentially the result of struggle geändert. Was now? who says the Commission that you again, at least not should use this someone until he proves that he knows what he's doing there?

At the moment, niemand.Es no system are the formal review for MMA refs, according to McCarthy.

"Boxing referee, bewertet.Es get your performance is a Panel as the older referee are retirement so you know that you not attempt to select the grader down, so you you have a better Zuweisung.Aber by the Commission, so that you, class if a show wurde.Und assigned receive typically three to six times a year benotet.Ist the biggest problem, we have that in MMA, who we have to do? we have not this older referee that can do this."

How determined the closest thing we have is a network of experienced refs like McCarthy.Es is never one instance, a great coach diplomas as a major event Bezuggenommen where he then, get a call, said McCarthy.Sie criticism offer each other honest reviews and recommendations for improvement - it is helpful, but it's all informal and unverbindlich.Es does not affect, which selects the Commission to work the next event.

The lack of coherent and consistent guidelines for referees, combined with the lack of any required certification or meaningful performance, well, it's a problem.

The third person in the cage every given fight night has the ability to a profound effect on a fighter's career and paycheck to use are responsible for ensuring security and fairness in each sanctioned Bout.sollten we some official system for make sure that you are performing competent in this task, and some actual consequences for you if you're not?

As for Aurelio of the tournament of week of event Chambers said he lawfully believed that Aurelio was injured and is disturbed by the fact that Aurelio still planning Shinya Aoki at dream. to fight 16 on September 25.

"We have been on several occasions in contact with his management and from all indications of his manager he hurt his elbow and is unable to fight and review produced a doctor's note whether." I have no problem if the guy's injured."If not, we will deal with it on Monday after the event."

It has been a difficult week for shine, since the event - originally planned to take place in the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia - moved to Oklahoma due to licensing issues musste.Dass are the organization with less than a week to speak out to potential ticket buyers in the links section, but this is not a problem, said Chambers, because the Casino place holds only about 1,500 people.

"It is a much smaller venue and I not foresee any problem to grab the always enough people there, it out."Actually think I we are about 90% now on three days in advance don't think ausverkauft.Ich we need any issues that are always fans."At the end of the day it is a proof, how well my team put together is."

Chambers added that the Organization has "reasonable expectations" if it is the event to how many largest sell, especially since it is still unclear what cable will provide it operators as an option for your viewers.

"This is something our production team has worked", he said."I don't know if the venue change impact on which had."

But after the late change of venue for this fight and cancellation shine fights III in may, the question may be whether the fans in the Organization have lost skills on its promises faith.According to Chambers everyone in the company know that you have to do some work on image of the company, but are confident this time around may make a statement.

"" I know for a fact that when I came into the Organization June you faced branding issues and it is easy to set", said Chambers."I think one of the things people see is that you had done two shows before the [cancelled may 15] show these shows went without a hitch, had big names on you, everyone got paid and everyone was happy.

"With the last event I was on the other hand of the Zauns.Ich was a Kommentator.Ich saw how things entfaltet.Es appears to me that it malicious gab.Die media, on understanding wanted oh, these guys trying these evil things is not the Fall.Ich tun.Das would not for businesses, company, and a learning experience would be in the if this the case wäre.Ich think it was only miscommunication."

UFC 118, Vegas style picks: who wins the fight obfuscated title?

B.j. Penn is always the star of the show, but not this week to 118 UFC. The legend of lightweight Hawaiian willingly took a back seat to James Toney. Boxer brief conversation and promotional acumen has led the Charter. But make no mistake about it, Toney vs Randy Couture, pure combat is a sideshow (Pro Sherdog picks have 50-3 for Couture) than the UFC Lightweight Title rematch between champ Frank Edgar and Penn.

Penn lost the first matchup via unanimous decision back to 112 UFC. In typical fashion Penn, tried to drum up some drama and Angst + Pfister heading into the fight, but it's not just that it's easy against Edgar, which is fairly benign with the spoken word. So the question again for Penn is the motivation. He is fired? He will be altering his style and work harder to win? otherwise, he will have two losses in a row, and then what motivates him to return and get better?
